Makeup artist Frieda Valenzuela’s work in “The Killer Inside Me’
was a representation of period work for the mid 50’s era.
Set in west Texas, the makeup was designed for a small town feel as
opposed to the glamour styles of Hollywood.
From Jessica Alba’s pared down hooker makeup to Kate Hudson’s
more dressed up makeup, the range and the style of the makeup
covered the general townspeople to the elite ladies at an upscale hotel
location.
Research on period work is critical to honor not only the director’s
vision but also to serve up the different looks called for by the script.
